The program prepares advanced public health nurses who can assume leadership roles in promoting community and population health in a variety of settings, including community-based programs, clinics and public health agencies, among others. Students learn to apply advanced knowledge and research findings to practice through coursework and 500 hours of supervised clinical experience. Graduates of the program meet the educational requirements for certification as Advanced Public Health Nurses by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Students who select the dual degree (MS/MPH) option acquire additional expertise public health with a focus on either environmental and occupational health or community health education.
