Greek - BA


Return to Classical and Oriental Studies  

The major in Greek is 36 credits including 24 credits in Greek, 6 credits of Latin and 6 CLA-prefixed courses.

Students interested in a teaching career should consult with the The School of Education . In addition, the department offers an MA in the teaching of Latin.

Departmental honors in classics and tutorials are open only to majors.

Classics: Minors


Classical Studies


A minor in Classical Studies consists of: CLA 10100 , CLA 20100 , CLA 20300  and one additional CLA course at the 200 or 300 level (e.g. literature in translation or upper-level culture courses).

Note: CLA 10100, CLA 20100 and CLA 20300 have no prerequisites

Classical Archaeology


A minor in Classical Archaeology consists of: CLA 20400 , CLA 22100 , CLA 22200  and one additional Classical archaeology course at the 200 or 300 level.

A minor in Greek consists of 12 credits beyond GRK 10100 /GRK 10200  

Latin


A minor in Latin consists of 12 credits beyond LAT 10100  and LAT 10200  or LAT 10700 .
