Childhood Special Education - MSEd

Return to: School of Education
These graduate programs prepare students to teach in Childhood Special Education environments, including self-contained and inclusion settings. Graduates from the severe/multiple disabilities program will be able to serve in such roles as specialized teachers of learners with severe disabilities, including deafblindness; inclusion support providers; and as collaborative team teachers with general education teachers in public and private schools, private agencies, hospitals and clinics. For those who do not already hold NYS certification in Childhood Education, these programs lead to dual certification, Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6. We offer a separate program that focuses on severe and multiple disabilities, which also leads an additional certification in Severe/Multiple Disabilities Extension Annotation. Both programs offer two tracks: a dual certification track for those with no NYS certification in Childhood Education and for those with Childhood Education certification.
