Hunter Core Requirement
Courses leading to (foundational) or within this major may fulfill parts of the Hunter Core Requirement (CUNY Common Core [CCC], Hunter Focus, Concurrent Requirements). When selecting courses, it may be to a student’s advantage to choose courses that count toward the Hunter Core Requirement and also advance the student on the path to the major. The major’s core curriculum begins with an introductory class, which teaches students to better understand city life socially, economically, physically, and politically. The other components of the core include courses about urban structure, policies and research methods. The major is also comprised of electives, an internship, and interdisciplinary courses offered in departments outside of the major. A. Urban Studies Core 15 cr

The following graduate courses are open to senior urban studies majors. Other graduate-level courses may be taken by seniors with permission of the instructor: URBP 701 History of Planned Urban Development URBP 702 The Structure of the Urban Region In addition to these two courses, there are cross-listed classes, offered each semester, that are open to undergraduate students. |
