The expansion of western Europe from 800 to 1492 in eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, Asia and Africa, giving particular attention to the Reconquista in Spain and the crusades in the Middle East. Courses at the 300-level and above not offered to freshmen. 3 hrs 3 cr.
