Withdrawal from Courses

Once you register for a course it becomes part of your permanent record. If for any reason you do not attend, you must officially withdraw from the course on-line at your CUNYfirst Account before the term deadline date recorded in the Academic Calendar. A grade of W is posted to your record for the course(s) you have withdrawn from. There is no refund of tuition. W grades are not calculated in a student’s GPA, however they may adversely influence a student’s ability to receive financial aid or impede progress toward degree completion. For information regarding the possible effect of withdrawals upon financial aid, please visit: http://www.hunter.cuny.ed/uonestop/finances/financial-aid/how-does-withdrawal-affect-my-financial-aid

Failure to follow this procedure will result in a grade of “WU” which is equivalent to a failing grade of “F”.

All official withdrawals after the official withdrawal period (3rd – 10th week of classes) must have the approval of your graduate divisional dean.  Documentation supporting your reason for withdrawing after the official withdrawal date must be supported by the academic divisional dean. Consult with your graduate adviser, departmental chair or academic divisional dean as to which documentation is acceptable. All late withdrawal requests are received by the Office of the Registrar via inter-office delivery from the offices of the divisional dean.
